| HG Spec - Corporate history |
Hamlet & Garneau's first began with the efforts of Mr. Elmer Hamlet in 1920. Although modest in its origin, this new company managed to hold exclusive representation of a major manufacturer of key plumbing products, the C.A. Dunham Company. With the arrival of Mr. Léopold Garneau Sr. in 1928, Hamlet & Garneau Inc. was born. At this point in time, the company also began the representation of McDonald Miller, a world renown fabricator of specialty valves and fittings. In 1965, Hamlet & Garneau experienced many changes. It was then that Mr. Claude Garneau joined the company and, along with him, the newly acquired representation of the Amtrol Company. In the midst of this expansion came the departure of the C.A. Dunham Company as it decided to venture off and open it's own independent office. During that same year a new manufacturing division was unveiled for the production of the Homeguard pump. It was not until 1985 that Mr. Jean Pichette joined the work team as vice-president of Sales & Marketing. Later that same year, he initiated the purchase of Expanflex which acted as a replacement of the void left by Amtrol who had decided to leave Hamlet & Garneau in order to operate independently. Two years later, Mr. Pichette became the President of the company. Under Mr. Pichette's guidance, the company ceased manufacturing products and sold the fabrication rights of the Expanflex and Homeguard product groups to specialists in the manufacturing sector. This was done in an effort to devote the future of the company as a sales and marketing organisation and to concentrate its efforts on these strengths. |
